Editors-in-charge

General

Editors-in-charge are crucial for the smooth running of the Journal of Quantum Science (JQuant): they select expert reviewers, guaranteeing the highest quality standards and pursuing timely editorial processing of contributions. Indeed, the journal relies heavily on the editor's scientific qualifications, competence, promptness and commitment for quality and efficiency. Editorial oversight and peer review is handled anonymously.

Manuscripts are automatically assigned to the most appropriate editor-in-charge. The editor's workload is taken into account in the distribution of the assignments and overload is avoided insofar as possible.

As soon as a submission is assigned to an editor-in-charge, they receive an email notification asking them to log in to the JQuant website to manage it. The Editorial Office will soon follow-up to provide the necessary information and assistance. General information about the JQuant system (login, correspondence, etc.) is available in "Using the JQuant system".

Here are some basic instructions on how to manage a submission: Instruction for Editors

Editors-in-charge are notified by email about all important events and of all messages addressed to them. Emails invite editors to access the manuscript page and see the details and/or take action.

Editors-in-charge are expected to carry out their tasks according to the Journal Editorial Policy and Ethical Policy.

The JQuant Editorial Board is available at this link.

At the end of the review process, editors-in-charge prepare the "Editor report" to motivate their decision. Possible decisions in JQuant are:

  • Acceptance
  • Rejection
  • Declaration of "Not Suitable"
  • Request for major revision
  • Request for minor revision

Revised versions can be submitted by authors only if requested by the editor-in-charge and should be evaluated with the same quality standards as new submissions.

Automatic reminders are sent in case of delays in all stages of the procedure.
