The Journal of Quantum Science (JQuant) is a Diamond Open-Access journal: no fees for authors, no paywalls for readers.
All content is freely accessible, without barriers. This model is made possible through the direct support of research institutions and the scientific community, acknowledged on the Journal home page.
The journal recognises their essential role in sustaining the collaborative nature of the journal and the commitment of said institutions, who are investing in open, high-quality and community-driven science, while also offering them the opportunity to become active members of the community and contribute to JQuant's development.
Beyond Open Access
JQuant follows Open Science's best practices, in line with the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science and its vision of going beyond Open Access:
- Its publications follow the FAIR principles;
- All manuscripts are published with a CC BY 4.0 International licence
- Its software system is an Open Source, collective effort and its code is publicly available licensed under the AGPL;
- It makes extensive use of IDs such as ROR for affiliations and funders and ORCID for users and authors in particular;
- All publications include Data and Code Availability Statements (DAS and CAS);
- Detailed metadata are sent to CrossRef for DOI registration;
- Accessibility is compliant with the “Web Content Accessibility Guidelines” (WCAG), level AA, defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
A Community-funded model for Open Science
JQuant is sustained by partnerships with institutions and organizations committed to advancing Open Science. This collective support enables the journal to operate sustainably while preserving full editorial independence and maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publishing.
All resources are focused on the elements that generate the greatest value for the community:
- rigorous and transparent peer review
- independent and trusted editorial oversight
- wide, unrestricted dissemination of research
JQuant is not only a journal, but also a pilot initiative for a scalable, community-governed publishing framework. Its objective is to demonstrate how collaborative funding mechanisms can replace traditional publishing models, offering a sustainable alternative that aligns with the principles of Open Science.
